Dr. Johnson has worked in public health for nearly ten years where she has continually pursued her passion for providing dental treatment to the most in need. At Lone Star Family Health Center Dental Clinic in Conroe, Dr. Johnson played a vital role in implementing a sliding fee scale that included complex dental procedures such as root canals, dental crowns and dentures. She also contributed to the growth of the clinic by creating and implementing a Dental Operations Manual and assisting in the design to fully equip four treatment rooms which allowed the Dental team to serve an additional 400 patients per month. Beyond her extensive in-clinic experience, Dr. Johnson has continually invested in the community by organizing and participating in several outreach programs, including “Give Kids a Smile Day,” providing free dental exams, sealants and fluoride treatment to children without resources for dental care.
Dr. Johnson attended the University of Houston where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC, followed by the General Practice Dental Residency Program at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in Bronx, New York. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the National Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society.
A native Houstonian, Dr. Johnson enjoys mission trips, especially when she has an opportunity to provide dental treatment to those who are most in need. On one such trip to Jamaica, she was able to restore a front tooth for a patient who was having a difficult time finding a job because of the broken tooth. The patient expressed gratefulness for the treatment and was looking forward to employment in the hotel hospitality industry. When Dr. Johnson isn’t practicing dentistry, she likes to travel, exercise, listen to live bands and spend time with her husband and three children.
