Yvonne Arizpe, Health Navigation Specialist
Yvonne Arizpe serves as a Health Navigation Specialist at Legacy, where she implements community engagement programs and delivers public health services to patients regardless of the ability to pay- without judgment or exception. She provides bilingual health navigation, education, and social support to empower people to live their healthiest lives. Whether a patient needs HIV care for treatment or prevention, maternal care, and/or mental health support, Yvonne believes that collaboration at the community level is key to developing effective health programs and improving health outcomes.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology from Rice University and a certificate of completion from the Ryan White Planning Council’s Proyecto V.I.D.A., the most comprehensive advocacy training program in the nation for people living and impacted by HIV. After completing the program, Yvonne officially joined the Ryan White Planning Council as a councilmember and is also part of the Quality Improvement Committee. She is a certified HIV PrEP navigator, helping patients understand and access biomedical prevention as well as providing trauma-informed, inclusive, and affirming navigation services. She is also part of the HIV Latino Task Force, involved in the Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council’s Hispanic leaders’ initiative, and a community advisory board member for other local nonprofits serving vulnerable populations in the Houston area.
Yvonne enjoys nature in her free time, often exploring new parks in search of native trees, spaces with creative art made by community members, and fun places to eat in her hometown.
