Dr. Jose Bejarano, Psychiatrist
Dr. Jose Bejarano is one of Legacy’s bilingual Psychiatrists. A native Spanish speaker from Ecuador, Dr. Bejarano completed his general medical education at the Universidad Estatal de Guayaquil. He then completed his General Psychiatry Residency at the New York Medical College in the Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, NY. After his residency program completion where he served as Chief Resident and Best Resident, he received his post-graduate training in Public Psychiatry Fellowship at the CMHC – Yale University in New Haven, CT.
In Guayaquil, Ecuador he placed in the top ten percent of Medical Graduates. He received recognition from the General Consulate of Ecuador in Connecticut for services provided to the Latino community in 2011-12. He has given lectures on mental health promotion and education and Dr. Bejarano’s work has also been published in the Scientific Magazine for Medical Federation in Ecuador.
Dr. Bejarano works with adults exclusively, he also has a passion for mental health education in the Latino community and is conscious to practice cultural sensitivity. He is completely fluent in Spanish written and spoken, and has good knowledge of French.
