Dr. Trina La, PharmD brings to Legacy more than 24 years of experience as an Executive VP for Pharmacy Operations. Her extensive background in the pharmacy operations space includes ambulatory infusion clinics, behavioral health, oncology/hematology, hospital acute and rural, critical access, specialty pharmacy, central fill, residency practice, 340B, PBM/PA, and correctional institutions.
In her most recent VP position, Dr. La’s responsibilities spanned over 35 states, serving 200,000 patients and averaging up to 25,000 scripts a day. She is an active member of the pharmacy community, currently serving as a founding member for the Houston Chapter of the Vietnamese American Pharmacists Association (VAPhA), which services up to 16 free health fairs around the city to provide brownbag medication checks, cholesterol screenings and diabetes screenings for the underserved population.
In her new role at Legacy, Dr. La provides in-depth knowledge and strategic planning for pharmacy operations, 340B Program, supply chain and other assistance available to Legacy and non-Legacy patients. She also oversees delivery and growth of access to care, improvement of quality metrics and financial performance, and alignment with state and federal rules and regulations.
Dr. La graduated from Texas Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, followed by a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She then earned her Master of Science – Health Service Administration in Biopharmaceutics Regulatory and Compliance at the University of Wyoming Pharmacy School.
Outside of work, Dr. La enjoys traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and participating in community service with organizations such as Abandoned Little Angels, Sunflower Mission and VAPhA. She is also fluent in Vietnamese.
