Dr. Vanita Agrawal is the Medical Director for Adult Medicine at Legacy. Dr. Agrawal brings to Legacy a wealth of clinical and leadership experience in preventive and occupational medicine. Most recently, she served as the Medical Director at UT Physicians Multispecialty, an ambulatory primary care clinic with a focus on community health and wellness for children, adolescents and adults. Her responsibilities included supervising an internal committee for infection control, safety and medical care. Accompanying those tasks, Dr. Agrawal evaluated and developed policies and procedures for quality assurance, and performance improvement. She also established affiliations with professional groups, regulatory agencies and emergency medical systems. During her time at UT Physicians Multispecialty, Dr. Agrawal led the growth and expansion of the clinic and contributed to decreased staff turnover.
In addition to her Medical Director role, Dr. Agrawal served as Assistant Professor for the Department of Internal Medicine. Within her position, she specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of adult and geriatric chronic and mental health conditions. She also supervised and mentored nurse practitioners, resident physicians and medical students.
In her role at Legacy, Dr. Agrawal maintains regular clinic hours for Adult Medicine patients while also defining, promoting and reviewing quality practices for her department. Additionally, she develops processes for ensuring continuity across patient transitions of care and implements initiatives for improved health outcomes, clinical efficiency and patient experience.
After earning her Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur, India, Dr. Agrawal completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She then went on to earn her Healthcare Management Certification from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, followed by her Master of Public Health in Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences from UT Health – School of Public Health. Most recently, she completed her Occupational Medicine Residency at UT Health-School of Public Health.
Dr. Agrawal loves traveling, camping, listening to music and spending time with friends and family. She and her spouse have a 9-year-old son who is in the fourth grade.
