Legacy Community Health, the largest community health center in Texas, is launching a radio and digital advertising campaign to enroll Houstonians into the health insurance marketplace established under the Affordable Care Act. Enrollment begins November 1 and runs through December 15. Plans, which can now be previewed at healthcare.gov, begin in January 2019.
“It’s inevitable for someone to fall ill or become injured in their lifetime,” said Trilena Amos, Legacy’s director of patient access outreach. “Not having health insurance can bankrupt you in the blink of an eye. Everyone needs it. Having affordable insurance – especially in Texas—is critical to accessing health care and treating and preventing chronic illnesses – and unexpected emergencies.”
Marketplace insurance is for those who don’t already have insurance through their employer, Medicaid, Medicare, or the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). You must re-enroll for 2019 even if you already have coverage under the ACA.
The Legacy ad campaign, in both English and Spanish, will air on FM stations Mega 101, K-LOVE 107.5, 97.9 The Box, and Mix 96.5 and run on multiple digital platforms.
Legacy has Certified Application Counselors (CAC) in place now through December 15 to help enrollees through the enrollment process so that they know what plan works best for them.
Last year, more than 1 million Texans enrolled in the federal marketplace, despite the drastic cut in the enrollment period. This year’s enrollment period is 45 days.
